The Hillsborough Walled Garden is a prize winning Community Garden situated in Hillsborough Park in the north of the city of Sheffield.
The Garden was first developed in 1991 from a derelict site by the Hillsborough Community Development Trust and was formally opened to the public by the Duke of Kent in 1993. Since November 2006 the Garden has been operated and run by Sheffield City Council.
As well as a delightful retreat for local people the Garden is used as a venue for voluntary work, therapeutic horticulture, employment placements and has been used for a wide variety of activities and events for all ages from Bunny Hunts to Shakespeare.
The Garden thrives on such activities and events and we would like to put on more, but can only do so with the active support of local people. If you are interested in getting involved, whether to help maintain the Garden or to help to fundraise or helping to organise, publicise or run events and activities please contact us at hillsboroughwg@fsmail.net, or contact us at 232 6048.
